Our Story

Rob Scheffrin started his first company, Fire and Ice, Inc., in Denver in September 1985. He provided HVAC services for heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment specifically for restaurants and small commercial buildings, where a breakdown costs the owner money every hour it lasts.

In March 1988, the Scheffrins moved to Phoenix, where Rob started Cold Wave, Inc. He has operated it the same way ever since: showing up, telling the customer the truth, and doing the job right the first time.

When asked what he likes best about the business, Rob says it's knowing that his customers in Phoenix trust him to provide great work at a fair price. "When that is your reputation, you sleep well at night."

Today, Cold Wave installs and services air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, and evaporative coolers for homes and businesses throughout the Phoenix area. We are fully licensed for HVAC services in every city in the metro area and ensure to pull permits whenever a job requires one. Our technicians are certified, and our trucks are clean, clearly marked, and fully stocked. When we replace an old unit, we recover the refrigerant and recycle the equipment.

Nearly four decades later, we remain a family-owned business. No franchise, no corporate office—just dedicated people who care about the work.
